Busy doing nothing
I’m not really sure how I manage to write a blog post every day when we are travelling and yet, when I am at home “doing nothing” I can hardly string two words together.
I still take photographs for my Project Life albums, usually of everyday things that would be of no interest to anyone else at all, like this one. The significance of a washing line? It was the first day of this year when I hung the washing out to dry! I haven’t managed it since then, though, not even today when it was fairly bright until I put the washing in the basket and gathered up the peg bag, when it clouded over and I thought better of it.
Looking through my photographs revealed other, more interesting things I’ve been up to, like collecting the bowl I made with my WI friends a few weeks ago. We spent a fun, gossipy morning making clay bowls with Charlie of Little Earthquake Pots using the slab method, moulding them around a mixing bowl. She then took them back to her workshop to glaze and fire before bringing them to last month’s WI meeting. I was quite pleased with mine, though my Hero was none too impressed! I think he was expecting something a little more “fine china”!
I spent a fun day with friends in Mile End, London, going up by train for the day to an exhibition where they had work on show.
Not only was it a great collection of work with some outstanding pieces by incredible artists
it was showing in this wonderful gallery too!
I couldn’t believe we were in East London, looking out over a leafy green space at little flotillas of ducklings swimming in the adjacent pond.
I’m back in my early morning swimming routine again, snapping a photo of the most amazing sky when I set out last Tuesday.
I also smiled when I came across this screenshot I snagged from a Facebook post which had me singing along too.
Because it’s true, I never read Dostoyevsky! I have, however, really enjoyed another of Pip Williams’ books set in Oxford. My book group had loved The Dictionary of Lost Words when I chose it as my selection last year, so when I spotted she’d written a new book, I tucked it away to read and totally forgot about it. When I found it again, I devoured it in a day or so, remembering exactly why I’d enjoyed her writing. Highly recommended.
Hmmm, and what else have I been up to? There might be another post along in a day or two!!
