Losing the plot

Losing the plot

A funny old week around here.  As always at this time of the year, after a few quiet weeks, in September my calendar suddenly fills with a variety of interesting entries and I'm running from one thing to another again.  Just how I like it.  On my way back from the dentist on Tuesday morning however, my Hero telephoned in a bit of a panic.  We'd always known we were going to spend this weekend in Switzerland since he was invited to speak at a symposium in Lachen, on Lake Zurich.  But we'd somehow managed to fix the wrong days in our heads and rather than travel on Friday for a Saturday-Sunday event, we were actually going on Thursday for a Friday-Saturday do.

Oooer.

Thankfully, all the travel plans were correct and it was only fixed wrongly in our minds.  But it did mean that we "lost" a day last week.  And when each day is filled with arrangements and things to do, that does make quite a difference.  It also means packing in a hurry and running the risk of forgetting something: on thi occasion, the gizmo to transfer photographs from my camera to my tablet. (I know, could be worse, eh?)

So for now, you'll simply have to imagine the fun evenlng spent around the table last night.  A dozen or so of us; some already old friends, others we were meeting for the first time.  German, Swiss, British...all spoken at the same time and frequently in the same sentence.  Throw in an Italian menu and all bets are off.

This morning, they'll assemble and focus on the music which brought them together.  Me?  I'm off to catch a train into Zurich with the intention of heading for the art gallery.  Maybe there will be a story later - or maybe it will wait till I'm home again.

Bis bald!
