It was an interesting and productive meeting
Though try as I might, I couldn't help but be distracted by these three old friends standing behind me, "looking over my shoulder".
Working in the meeting room at the NFWI Unit at Denman College is always full of visual treats like this. The WI was key to the development of Dorset Feather Stitchery and has a great collection of examples and original resources on the subject. I wrote about it some years ago and even now, that post remains one of the most read pages of this blog.
Right now, the cabinet in the corner is filled with a few lovely examples of the technique, including that beautiful tan cushion. Not normally my colour palette of choice, I think it works well and looks more contemporary in style than many of the other examples of the era.
The colour palette chosen for the example on the other shelf tells a clear story of the 1950s though, doesn't it?
I wonder if we'll look back at examples of our work today and say "so 2018" ?
