Off we go
We spent the night in the Sofitel at terminal 5 last night, knowing that we had to be up early for our 8.30am flight. As we're creatures of habit, we did our usual trick of booking a table at Launceston Place for dinner with Edward and Amy, enjoying a chance to catch up with their news as one dish after another appeared in front of us.
Yes, we had the nine-course tasting menu and since none of us was driving, the wine pairing too. Wow.
This morning, bright and early, we were there, ready and waiting to begin our journey. Seven and a half hours enjoying the new British Airways food presentation, a bit of knitting (my hero has a new pair of socks, finished at 35,000ft with all loose ends tidied thanks to a pair of scissors carried by a member of cabin crew) a showing of The Greatest Showman a few zzzzzzs and a second film, I Tonya.
As we came in to land, the unmistakeable skyline appeared through the window.
Hello New York! Let the fun begin!
